When we found out we were having a baby, one of the first things that came to mind (right after OMG WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!) was UGH we have to move again. My boyfriend has a slightly less anti-moving mentality than I do since he has had a pretty stable place to call home most of his life. However, moving often is kind of what I do.
It started with my childhood:
Birth to Age 1 - Bloomington
Age 1 to Age 5 - Burnsville
Age 5 to Age 9 - Rosemount
Age 9 to 13 - Bloomington
Age 13 to Age 17 - Eden Prairie
After that, I continued the trend on my own and with a few boyfriends:
Age 17 to 18 - Minneapolis (College)
Age 18 - Eden Prairie (Tried living back at home, uh, bad idea)
Age 18 to 20 - Hopkins (Apartment with Live-in Boyfriend #1 who eventually became awkward roommate situation #1...don't ask)
Age 20 to 22 - Chanhassen (Apartment with Live-in Boyfriend #2)
Age 22 to 24 - Eden Prairie (Bought house with said boyfriend)
Age 24 - Eden Prairie (Moved to mom's after breakup with said boyfriend)
Age 24 - Minneapolis (My first place ALL MY OWN!!)
Age 24 - Minnetonka (My first landlord of above turned out to be 1st Degree CREEPER, moved into new apartment with friend, her boyfriend, and my new boyfriend J *He gets to skip the label of Live-in Boyfriend #3, because there will not be a #4*. Fun for about 2 months.)
Age 25 to 26 - Eden Prairie (One bedroom with J)
Whooo weee! I told you a was a mover!! And that brings us to now. I had really hoped to be someplace for at least a couple of years. However, we obviously need more than one bedroom for Maddie's arrival and the sanity of all involved. We considered renting again, but with the way the market is right now and with nothing to sell, only a need to buy, buying was definitely bound to be a better option and about the same cost as renting a 2 bedroom in our area.
So I called up my trusty realtor who helped find me and the ex the last house and we began the search. At the beginning it seemed that is was going to be a long and painful process. The foreclosures tended to be in bad shape or really dirty or without appliances/light fixtures/carpet/major items that former owners broke/took/sold etc. And then...only about 7 or 8 houses in, we found the ONE! And badda bing badda boom, we close next month!! So happy!
Not only will we have a home to call our own, we will be able to have Maddie's room all ready for her arrival. This sounds absolutely wonderful, especially since I had originally pictured bringing her home to a total cluster ^&*% of a one bedroom apartment until our lease was up in July, and then trying to move and get situated with a newborn. Can I get a WOOT!?
And let's not forget who will be over 7 months pregnant when it comes time for box and furniture movin'! Aw snap!
Behold, the new home!

oh congratulations on a new baby and a new home! sorry about all the moving, as moving BLOWS! but it is worth it if you will be a homeowner. i am a little jealous!
Congratulations on the baby :-)
I hate moving, I always get stressed out to the point of a panic attack, which doesn't make sense as I have also move quite a few times in my life... 7 in total I think.
