Madie has this thing that she does that completely cracks us up and at the same time puts our lives in danger while operating motor vehicles. She has figured out that the best way to make sure someone is listening to you is to get them to make eye contact. This makes perfect sense and is pretty intuitive for a 2 year old. She will say your name once and only once. If you do not look at her, or turn around in your seat while, say, DRIVING, she says "I'm right here" in this very patient kind of way as though you were the toddler and she the adult (which by the way she claims to be whenever she wants to do something she probably shouldn't). However, we are trying to teach her that when one is driving, it is in no one's best interest to take your eyes off of the road to pay full attention to the adorable little person in the back seat with something VERY IMPORTANT to say.
She hasn't quite gotten that idea yet though so it continues to be "Mom... I'm right here".
