Way Over Due

No, I am not currently 51 weeks pregnant. This post people, it's the post that is way over due.

Wow, to try and recap everything from the past whirlwind 2 1/2 months would be simply impossible.

I am a mom. I have a beautiful (BEAUTIFUL, PEOPLE!) baby girl.

Madilynn Anne was born at 8:03am on June 1st, 2009. She weighed a whopping 9lbs 14oz and was 20 1/2" long. Thank goodness for c-sections!!

Ohhh, the c-section. If you are having one, do not read on. Not because the following will scare you, but because it will be a HUGE disservice to you if you happen to have a difficult one.

MY C SECTION WAS A BREEEEEZE!

The worst part about the whole thing was the a) before, since I had NO idea what to expect and b) the damn IV cause they could not find a vein. 2 Nurses and 3 stabs later, voila! Ready for baby time.
The c section went SO quickly and everyone was so wonderful. Madie was born listening to her daddy and the anethesiologist talking about import beer. It was meant to take his mind off the surgery, but they were pretty invested in the conversation. Until I threw up in my oxygen mask because I couldn't signal that I was going to be sick as my arms were strapped down and I couldn't talk because, hello! Oxygen mask. Anyways. Madie came out absolutely perfect aside from a tiny little scalpel mark on her forehead, as she was pressed so tight against the lining.

The other fantabulous thing was that my recovery was SUPER easy. I could drive and walk stairs as soon as I got home and the pain was slim to none. Seriously. No labor, no pushing, Whheeeee!

The hospital stay was also pretty good. I kept Madie in-room with me of course and Jason stayed over a couple of the 3 nights that I was there. Madie was a pretty darn good baby right from the start, if I do say so myself. The only other horribleness came around midnight on night 2, when my iv pulled out as I was taking my blood glucose for the nurse. DAMN IV's! This time it took 3 nurses, an anesthesiologist, about 7 painful jabs, and an hour later, I finally had an IV in the back of my hand. This made it extremely difficult to NURSE MY CHILD! Ugh. I. HATE. IVS.

I will leave you with one thought. Nothing in the world prepares you for what your boobs do when your milk comes in. Holy Wow.

Tomorrow I will continue the story in bits and pieces, of the last 2 1/2 months of wonderful babyness.

Here's some more pics of new born Madie, I will save the newer ones for another day...

Best. Cheeks. EVER.

Yes, they put the bow smack dab on her forehead. But ignore that. Pay attention to the CHEEKS!

All the nurses commented on how she looked like a 2 month old rather than a newborn. My little angel's first night at home. Sigh.

Wow! I cannot believe that you had an almost 10lb baby and it was your first baby! I'm having a c section in about 6 weeks and I'm super nervous but this post made me feel better. Keep the posts coming and congrats!
