I am not afraid of too many living creatures. I not only tolerate spiders, I object to them being killed because "they kill the icky bugs". But I really could do without things with an unnecessary amount of legs like centi- or milli- peds. Peeds? (Catterpillars are a-ok cause they are FURRY! and CUTE! and turn into BUTTERFLYS!). My most feared? TICKS. I live in Minnesota so ticks are rampant I guess, but I don't see them really ever. Thank goodness.
So today I am sitting at my desk, talking to my fiance on the phone. I keep feeling something on my neck, but think it is just a stray piece of hair from my ponytail. I finally swipe at it and a TICK lands on my desk.
I will give you a second to take this in.
I tell my fiance in a not so calm tone that I MUST GET OFF THE PHONE AND FIND OUT IF THIS IS REALLY A TICK!
I grab it with a tissue and run to the nearest block of cubicles and toss the tissue onto the desk of an unsuspecting (male) co-worker. "Is this a tick?!?!"
"Yup, but it's a wood tick, not a deer tick so it's ok"
AAAHHHHHRRRGGGGG!!!!!
I started squirming around, feeling the creepy crawlies all over and practically breaking into tears cause I am so geeked out. I proceed to the bathroom as he says, don't worry, I killed it. In a high pitched voice I say "You have to chop their heads off or something I think!?". He said that he did chop it's head off, and the guys in the cubicle were all very amused I presume. I can't be sure, cause I was in the bathroom, stripping down, checking for more TICKS.
I hope they don't travel in packs.
